VICENZA, Italy, Sept 12 (Reuters) - Gold jewellery sales in Italy, Europe's top market, fell 27 percent in the second quarter and are likely to fall about 20 percent in the full year, the Italian representative for the World Gold Council told Reuters on Saturday.
Daniela Invernizzi said gold jewellery sales fell to 8.2 tonnes in the second quarter.
"I believe that we'll close the year with a fall of about 20 percent and the weakness will continue in 2010," she told Reuters in an interview on the sidelines of an international jewellery fair in Vicenza in northern Italy.
